The pressure is on as Ireland’s top mixologists gather in Dublin today to compete in the live cocktail competition at The Guinness Storehouse at St James’ Gate in Dublin where Connor and Paul from our very own Uluru Bar & Grill will compete against nominees from across Ireland.
Based on our entry for Best Cocktail Experience, our guys have been invited to the Ketel One Cocktail Competition 2017 which will be judged by the Bartenders Association of Ireland and Diageo.
The overall winner will be announced at the Irish Restaurant Awards Final on May 8 in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road.
Connor Traynor was smiling this morning when he left Armagh to head to Dublin with our in-house mixologist Paul and we have every faith he’ll be smiling on stage later when the competition starts at 4pm.
We have a very extensive Cocktail Menu at Uluru Bar & Grill and the cocktail which will be made today is The Trifle – a cocktail created by Paul and is not available anywhere else.
The Trifle consists of Cranberry vodka, cointreau, strawberry p
The theme for the competition is Ketel One Sustainability. Cocktails created must be based around the concept of sustainability. So cocktails must be fresh and vibrant with flavours which are light and intriguing while considering elements such as leftover cooking, no waste, zero carbon cocktails and eco friendly.
Competitors must also take into consideration ice, paper and plastic alternatives, recycling, home grown fruits and veg, organic food and super foods.
Who knew eh?
So, give the guys a big cheer and wish them all the luck for today. They’re not staying over so you may give their chauffeur Mary a big cheer too as she’ll have a lot of banter to put up with on the way back up the road tonight.
Good luck guys and well done for putting Armagh on the map yet again.
Keep and eye out tomorrow for pictures from today’s event.
